Your choice of a bottom freezer is a good one based on life expectancy of bottom freezer models, they are expected to last a few years longer than the side by side and top mount. The reason for this is that the bottom drawer does not spill the cold air out when you open it. Both the side by side and the top mount lose cold air each time you open them and then the refrigerator has to cool the air again. I’m debating between 2 different models of fridges: the LG four door fridge (Model #LMX25964ST) or the Maytag Ice2 0 (Model MFI2569VEM). Electronics: instead of the old reliable mechanical devices that used to operate refrigerators, a lot of the new ones use electronics so that if one feature fails, the whole circuit has to be replaced. They are both bottom freezer french door refrigerators with ice and water, and both the same price. The main reason that I would buy a Maytag, is the consumer complaints regarding LG, the most common being poor customer service and great difficulty locating parts and qualified repairmen. But the refrigerator will cost far less to operate.
