Portovino's menu must come first
Portovino’s specials include a popular $9 lunch special that runs Monday through Saturday and a Family Style Sunday promotion. Hours: Monday through Thursday, 11 a. m. to 10 p. m. Friday and Saturday, 11 a. m. to 11 p. m. and Sunday noon to 9 p. m. Phone: 402-885-6800. Most of the menu is available family style during the special, which runs every Sunday from noon into the dinner hour. The restaurant also has a happy hour that runs Monday through Saturday, 3 p. m. to 6 p. m. and 9 p. m. to close, and all day Sunday. On Family Style Sunday, diners can order portions that serve four to six diners and are meant to be shared. The restaurant has at least one original take on a traditional Italian dessert: biramisu, a take on tiramisu, is made with porter beer. In Omaha, where diners can find good pizza and hearty Italian food, Portovino falls short. But before any of that matters, it needs to work on its menu, its atmosphere and, most importantly, its Italian-inspired dishes.
